就連協會同仁主動到場提供衣服及布要給 Life 鋪著度過寒流天，飼主都是以厭煩的態度覺得會弄濕很難清理為理由拒絕...
Taiwan SPCA responded to a call in February from a concerned citizen regarding a neighborhood dog that may be improperly kept.
After carrying out investigation, it was found that Life had been abandoned at the doorstep of his current owners ten years ago. The couple did not know what to do, so they ended up keeping the pup and gave him the name Life.
Due to a deformed front foot sustained at an early age, Life is unable to walk for long periods of time or cover wide distances. He usually needs to be carried home after walking to the end of the alley. Furthermore, due to his foot deformity, his nails cannot be filed naturally via contact with the ground and grow exceptionally fast.
Life’s owners kept him in an unused space at the front of the house. They provided him with adequate shelter, tidied environment, as well as food and water. However, the most important aspect, love, was missing from his care. As Life was not viewed as part of the family, only his basic needs were attended to by his owners. During the two months of communication with Life’s owners, never once did we observe the owners and their children interacting with Life, and Life remained strictly an outdoor dog even when it was rainy or cold. Moreover, Life’s owners refused Taiwan SPCA’s offer of providing Life with bedding to keep him warm from the cold, saying that the bedding will get wet and make cleaning more troublesome.
As his owners were lacking in proper concept of pet-keeping, Life has never been to a vet in a decade, let alone receive microchip implantation, vaccination or desexing. Upon bringing Life to the vet, Taiwan SPCA discovered that Life had been suffering from heartworm, ascites, right-side heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension. Life is currently under treatment for his conditions.
From his enclosure, Life watches in envy as other dogs pass by with their owners. He yearns very much to be able to walk freely like the students getting off from school. He constantly begs for attention whenever his owners or their children pass by, dreaming of the day when he can be loved. He wants nothing more than to be petted, fed treats, go on walks, watch TV and fall asleep with someone who loves him. Will you be that special person to make his dreams come true?
