辣椒的故事 Chili story:
In July the investigation division received a report of improper care from the Banqiao district.
The investigation discovered that a short haired dachshund had been living long term in a cage. Although the cage had decent covering, it was very dirty and full of feces and urine. The original owner would only clean the cage once a week or less. The dog’s claws were overgrown to the point that it impaired the ability to walk.
The food that was in the cage was moldy. Due to the infrequency of being cleaned out, the dog had no option but to continue eating the spoiled food. The dog had not even eaten common dog treats before. The original owner had given the dog a very interesting name: Chili. It seems that they really did love the dog after they named her.
It is hard to imagine that the dog had never left the cage or gone on a walk in eight years.
We have finally gotten custody of her. She had never been outside of a cage before and the freedom to be outside made her so happy and excited. She stretched her legs, running and barking at everyone!
She was sent to the veterinary to be examined as soon as she was in the TSPCA’s custody. It was her first time going to the vet which made her very nervous. During her exam, it was discovered that she has heart worm and breast cancer.
Chili is very obedient. Even if she is afraid of the vet, she is docile. It goes without saying she is a very good dog.
For a dog who has never been bathed it was love at first bath for Chili! She really makes your heart melt.
We hope that she can find a home full of love that will give her a secure life. Since the shelter is currently full and she needs to fully recover from heart worm, fostering or adopting is both welcome. If you can love and care for Chili, please contact us!
