MuMu's Story:

[MuMu for Adoption │ On His Way Home]

MuMu has a very bright smile and personality, which makes it hard to imagine that he came to the TSPCA from a reported case of improper rearing and animal abuse.

MuMu was found at a factory in Changhua, in a dilapidated tin shed with floor covered with tin scraps. Peeking into the dark shed, we found a black dog curled up in the corner, with helpless eyes and trembling uncontrollably. MuMu was tied up with a short leash, and his water bowl and food bowl were very dirty, with thick and black grime accumulated on the surface.

After being notified by a member of the public, TSPCA inspectors hurried to the scene for further investigation. It turns out that the dog was being kept by the factory owner as a guard dog to ward off unwanted visitors, and because of this purpose, the owner refused to take the dog out for a walk, and was not willing to provide better living conditions such as clean drinking water and food bowl. He believed that the dog was not kept as a pet so no special care was needed...

MuMu is not even a year old, which is usually an age where the animal is most lively and active. However, in the process of dealing with the owner, he was very quiet and did not dare to come out. At one point, the owner even lost his temper and dragged MuMu out of the cage by his chain, and angrily shouted: “If raising a dog is so troublesome, it would be better not to have one!”. The owner suggested that since our inspectors had so many requests then we might as well just take the animal away. However, as we do not have the resources to accommodate every animal in need of rescue, we had to assess the situation carefully.

With an overwhelming sense of frustration, we decided to contact the local animal protection authority- Changhua County Animal Epidemic Prevention Center, as only the government has the power to issue compliance notices or fines to the owner.

After several visits and negotiations, the owner decided to relinquish his dog as he had no desire to change the way he kept his animal. This means he will also be added to the government Black List so that he can longer keep a dog in the future.

After being rescued, MuMu is now staying at the TSPCA office temporarily and has really come out of his shell! With a silly and cute face, he loves staring at people around the office, giving everyone his warmest smile. He often dangles his toys around and invites people to play with him as he trots around with small giddy steps.

In the past, MuMu had not been well taken care of, so he can be a bit shy at first, but he has a good temperament, and only needs a little time to warm up to you.

MuMu has a black, shiny coat, a pair of translucent brown eyes, and very distinctive big ears. We gave him a new name MuMu [Mu'er], hoping that he will find his way to a loving home very soon.
